Transformation Tuesday-- Lisa

Lisa Allen lost 88 lbs. in 14 rounds of 21 Day Fix.

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I had no energy. I would come home from work, eat dinner, and then sit on the couch the rest of the night. On the weekends, I wouldn’t get much done, because I had no energy. I would have great intentions, but they wouldn’t last long. I would work on something for a while, and then take a nap. Needless to say, I didn’t get much done.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I went to the doctor in January for my annual check-up and got on the scale. I had not been weighing myself at home so I had no idea how much I weighed. I came to the quick realization that I weighed at least 30 pounds more than I did when I gave birth to my son. The doctor didn’t say anything about it, but I was faced with my true reality!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
I am not one to go to a gym to work out. I didn’t want people to be watching the big girl try to exercise. By having a program I could do in the comfort of my own home and be able to modify the movements was a great motivator. After the very first workout, I could barely move or go up steps. I remember trying to get up at my office, was so sore, and my boss asking what was wrong with me. I told him that I had just started the program and that I was so sore. A few hours later, we needed to go upstairs and I said, “Really, you want me to climb the stairs as sore as I am?” He was like “Yes, it will be good for you.” I got up and climbed the stairs, and that was the start of my love for the workouts. My husband gave me my privacy to do my workouts first thing in the morning and supported me completely. I still get up every morning at 4:30 a.m. and do my workout first thing.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
The program is different every day. You can modify each “Fix” to your fitness ability.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I lost 17 pounds the first round. I have lost pounds with each round. I have just finished my 14th round and am down 88 pounds. The weight loss is great, but I feel so much better and have so much more energy.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I walk into a room with confidence, instead of walking into a room wondering if everyone is looking at the big girl that just walked into the room. I now can shop in the regular section for clothes. I don’t have to shop in the plus-size section. I’ve gotten a whole new wardrobe!

Transformation Tuesday- Nickole

Nickole Dahl lost 47 lbs. with eight rounds of 21 Day Fix EXTREME and Shakeology.

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I’m a mother to four children in less than six years. The baby was three months old when I started the program, and my oldest had just turned six. I felt pretty ashamed of the way I looked and really sad about the way my clothes fit. It was really hard to make the time to take care of myself with so many others to take care of.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I was really discouraged when the baby weight wasn’t coming off. Then I started slowly gaining more weight, and I just couldn’t bear to keep going in that direction. About that time a friend, now Coach, contacted me about joining her Challenge Group. She was really encouraging, and what I was doing clearly wasn’t working, so I gave it a shot.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
I was afraid that I would put in all the work, and not see any results. Also, I was worried how it would impact nursing my baby. After my third child, my attempts to lose weight negatively impacted my milk supply to the point that it actually affected her growth. I was really afraid that would happen again. I worried maybe I was just being selfish. I still have a long way to go, but I’m already a long way from where I started. One thing I learned, which I didn’t expect, was that it is not selfish to ask my family for 30 minutes of the day to take care of me.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I like that it is always challenging. I’ve done eight rounds now, and I still have to push every day.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I have lost nearly 50 pounds! Never did I imagine that was possible. I was elated to hit my original goal of 30 pounds. My body has been completely transformed. That is what I am most proud of. I didn’t starve myself and just get skinny; I built a brand-new me.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?I am so much happier! I was dealing with a lot of self-esteem and postpartum issues before I started. There is a new confidence in me now. We have been under a bit of stress due to my husband’s employment situation, but I find it much easier to deal with now. Asserting control over the parts of my life I can change has helped me in accepting the things I don’t have any control over.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Being a stay-at-home mom, my existence is sometimes very isolated. Being part of the group helped me to realize that I’m not alone, and there are others working hard toward goals similar to my own. The group was very quick to cheer success, and just as quick to encourage someone having a rough stretch. Working outside a group, it’s easy to slack, because you’re only cheating yourself. When there is a group of people working hard and posting about it, it starts to feel like you’d be cheating them too.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
Ashley is really enthusiastic and always encouraging. When I doubted I could do the program, she was sure I could. She also said more than once, “I’m proud of you.” Those are powerful words.

Transformation Tuesday-- Sue

Sue Schmidt, age 52, lost 45 lbs in five rounds of
21 Day Fix.

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I’m 52 years old and have had a weight problem all my life. Growing up in an English family it was meat, potatoes, and gravy every night except Fridays which was fried fish. I’ve tried everything out there, even injecting myself in the stomach every morning and living on 400 calories/day (Doctor approved) and you know the song and dance, gained it back plus more. Each time I gained the weight back I got bigger. Last summer I pretty much gave up and figured I was going to be fat for the rest of my life, so live with it! My husband and I went for a walk to the river and he took a picture of me, I thought it would be a good Facebook picture. When I got home and downloaded the picture I was disgusted with what I saw. I found my Coach on Facebook and started the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology. After my 5th round I’ve lost 45 pounds! I feel like a totally different person, I actually like what I see in the mirror! None of my “big” clothes fit anymore… I need to go shopping! :D
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I hated what I saw in the mirror, and when I saw a picture of me I knew it was time. I had already met my Coach online but never really thought about the program… just another weight loss gimmick. I asked my Coach about 21 Day Fix, Shakeology, and the accountability groups. I thought why not. Once I started, I was hooked! Working out came easy, changing my bad habits didn’t seem to be too hard… and having my awesome Coach and the ladies in group really helped me.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
I thought the hardest part would be totally stopping the crap food, I like my A&W, candy, chips, pop, I could go on… but I haven’t had any of that since I started and I don’t miss it. My Coach is the best, I’ve met some great ladies on my journey, and Autumn is like a drill sergeant and I love her for that!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I liked that it was only 30 minutes, and Autumn just keeps you motivated! The food containers made it easy to follow the food program. The recipes were very good and easy, and you get to eat a lot of good food! I love Shakeology! I drink it everyday, it’s filling, tasty and gives me energy, I feel great when I have it after my workout. I have an active job and work outside, I often take a shake with me and it helps keep me keep going especially during the cold winter days.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I have nice body! I have a waist and I went from a size 16/XL to 12/medium. I can wear nice clothes and I like shopping again… I’m actually going to buy a bathing suit! :D
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I have more confidence and my husband said I walk prouder. I have arthritis in my knee and hip, before I lost the weight I was in pain and limping. I had a hard time going up and down stairs, now I run up and down stairs and there is no pain! My depression has gone, before I didn’t like going out in public because I was embarrassed by the way I looked. Now I can’t wait for summer! lol
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Showing up everyday! Posting everyday, posting your food… all that helped me so much! I was accountable I couldn’t cheat… I didn’t want to cheat! The ladies I have met on this journey have been incredible. I don’t want to stop.

Transformation Tuesday- Debra

Debra Acker lost 45 lbs. in 210 days with INSANITY.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
When I was turning 50, I had done INSANITY in 2012, lost 17 pounds, and felt pretty good. Then I became ill and was taking all sorts of meds, and gained it back and then some. My daughter got pregnant, and it freaked me out that I might end up old and obese, and unable to enjoy life with my grandchildren. That was it! I stopped the meds cold turkey, and went on a 1200-calorie high-protein, high-fiber diet, did INSANITY and lifted weights, and lost 45 pounds. I have lost five more now, and am rockin’ my size six skinny jeans!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
Well, the biggest challenge was all of the aches and pains in my joints. They aren’t gone, but my legs and shoulders are much stronger now. Also, whereas before I wore clothes to hide my body, now I want to show it off! I feel so good and so energetic! That’s why I became a Coach, because I want to tell everyone that it doesn’t matter how old or ill or out of shape you are, you can take control of your health. You can make changes for you that will make you feel better about every aspect of your life — physical, emotional, and spiritual ! They are all connected!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
The ability to do the workouts at home, at my convenience, and in a small space with no equipment. Shaun T is an excellent teacher and motivator! I would love to be in a video dripping with sweat, panting, and showing how we 53-year-old women have to modify, but can still do it! (LOL!)
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I am back to my extroverted, enthusiastic self! I am confident, energetic, and positive. I feel ready to face menopause and aging with the knowledge that I am starting from a place of good health and can sustain it for the long haul. I cheer everyone on, and tell them they are training for a marathon, not a sprint. It is a change of attitude and behavior. Mind over matter. It is about getting healthy, not dieting.

Transformation Tuesday-- Haylee

Haylee Nelson lost 40 lbs. with 21 Day Fix.

"I have always watched my weight and tried to be smart about what I ate. However, when I got pregnant, I went overboard and figured I could eat whatever I wanted. It continued after I had my baby. I didn’t think it was a big deal until I saw a number on the scale that I had never seen before and actually saw myself in the mirror."
"For me, I have always hated — and by hated, I mean loathed — working out. I never wanted to do it, ever. But with 21 Day Fix, the workouts were all different and only 30 minutes each, so I thought: “Hey, I can do this!”
"I am really proud of how I look now, and that I feel so much more comfortable and confident in the way I look! I have just been happier all around in my life, and have been feeling much more comfortable in my own skin."

Transformation Tuesday- Heath

Heath Greenlee, age 50, lost 38 lbs. with 21 Day Fix and Shakeology.
"I was overweight, out of shape, and hated seeing myself in the mirror. If I was to get on a cruise ship, I’m afraid the crew would mistake me for a whale and start throwing harpoons at me. I did not feel great at all about my body, and had been trying different ways to lose weight (gym membership, Hydroxycut pills, starvation, etc.). Nothing seemed to work, and I was getting frustrated. Diets came and diets left, and eventually the weight would come right back. After returning home from Iraq in 2011, my marriage ended, and things got worse when I got injured at work and had to have knee surgery. While off work, I packed on even more weight sitting around and at one point, I reached 235 pounds. My activity level was very low, and I would get tired very easily. I would end up taking naps during my lunch break at work. I was shoving chips, soda, and fatty crap into my system, because I was depressed about not losing weight and seeing any results."
"The biggest challenge for me was committing the time to do the workouts at home from a DVD, and not in a gym setting. I had knee surgery a few years back, so I was concerned that there might be issues with some of the workouts. Not only was I able to punch through those issues, my wife Sandra did the workouts with me, as well as drink Shakeology. Beachbody helped me to get a great start in not only dropping the weight, but building muscles that I forgot existed, as well muscles I didn’t even know were there. My first week was rough, because I was sore in areas of my butt that I had never felt before. Through persistence, I stayed with it, and was ecstatic when I hit my goal weight of 200 pounds, a 20-pound loss of weight in three weeks. I terminated my gym membership immediately, and have completed five rounds of 21 Day Fix."

Transformation Tuesday- Melissa

Melissa Chevalier lost 51 lbs. with 21 Day Fix and PiYo. She entered her results into the Beachbody Challenge, and won the $500 Daily Prize for February 15th!

Her story....

"I felt absolutely horrible about myself, especially my weight. My blood pressure was terribly high, and they had to use the large cuff! My fasting blood sugar was elevated, and my cholesterol was in the range that either needed a lifestyle change or medication. I was truly terrified that I was too far gone. Thank you, Beachbody, for allowing me to see amazing results month after month using low-impact modifications!"

"I love Shakeology! Eating clean is a lot of work in the kitchen — cleaning, cutting, cooking, and measuring. Shakeology made one meal a day easy, and I think it is delicious. I have never used protein shakes/bars, because of the taste, but Shakeology is different. I’m so glad you sent the chocolate sample in my 21 Day Fix box; it hooked me! Also, I have noticed that my all-day-long coffee-drinking is now just one or two cups in the morning. I’m not sure if that’s because of Shakeology or exercise, but whatever it is, I love it."

"21 Day Fix has allowed me to see my abilities increase each month. After six months, it is still giving me amazing results with each cycle. 51 pounds so far! I feel so much leaner, stronger, and younger! Every month I’m more excited than the last to getting started again. I now see that becoming thin and fit is a real possibility if I continue using these Beachbody programs that work! I had actually given up hope and never set my goals very high, because I never thought the finish line was achievable. I now know I can get all the way down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 18 years ago! No more excuses! Only 30 more pounds to go!"

What's so great about Shakeology?

Ever heard of Shakeology?
Why do people love it so much?
What is in it?
Why is it so great?

America has a nutritional health crisis. Simply put, we are addicted to bad food. We are being overfed yet at the same time being undernourished. Not being nourished with the foods our bodies need can lead to terrible results. Overweight, joint pain, not sleeping well, depressed, digestive problems, lack of energy, moody, and stressed to just name a few. Our society has truly become addicted to caffeine, sugar and fast food.

Shakeology is so much more than a protein shake or meal replacement. It gives you your daily dose of dense superfood nutrition. It has over 70 of the world's healthiest ingredients that can provide you with vitamins, protein, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes. It's healthier than eating a salad and tastes like dessert. Every single ingredient goes through rigorous certification and testing to ensure potent nutrient concentration. There are no artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors, or preservatives. Unlike other weight loss or protein drinks, it is made from REAL food and has NO chemicals in it! Uh.... What? Yes it is true. All real food- no chemicals! By drinking Shaekology you fuel your body with the nutrients it needs and in turn gives you energy, improves your digestion, reduces cravings, and helps you be healthier all around.

I have seen a huge difference in my health and energy levels since I started drinking Shakeology. If you interested in getting healthy and want to join me or try Shakeology for yourself comment bellow or email me at amydalley21@gmail.com

Party food that's not Junk!

Happy Valentine's Week!!!

I decided to host a Princess Valentine's Tea Party for my daughter and all her neighborhood friends. It was so much fun for both me and my daughter! I LOVE Valentine's so I think we will make it a yearly tradition to have some sort of Galentines party.

Most Valentine's parties are full of sugar! I didn't want to go there. I was still able to make it fun and festive by having cute serving dishes (found at the dollar store), picking foods that were red and cutting what foods I could into hearts.  Here is what we had...

Veggies with Hidden Valley Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip (red peppers were cut into hearts)

Bananas and strawberries drizzled with a little Nutella

Strawberry Jello cut into hearts

Cheese cut into hearts

I served pink juice that was mixed with half water and the kids didn't even notice!

But of course we had to decorate heart shaped sugar cookies! It wouldn't be a Valentine's party without a LITTLE sugar right??? They were gluten free... so that means they are healthy. Just kidding. I wish!

It was so much fun and I am excited to do it again next year.

Transformation Tuesday

Meet Catherine!

Catherine had been diagnosed with a thyroid disease, which affected her energy, what she was able to eat, and left her with extra weight she wanted to get rid of. She chose 21 Day Fix for its mix of workouts and portion control, and had amazing results! She lost 45 pounds and 16 inches in just over 6 months! Here’s her story in her own words:
After a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, I was overweight, deeply tired, discouraged and depressed. Exercise was helping my fitness level, but I still was not losing weight. I chose 21 Day Fix, because I felt portion control was key. I lost 13 pounds in the first month! It was a miracle. I had tried everything and this weight loss was a great motivator for me.
Before 21 Day Fix, I was definitely eating a disproportionate amount of carbs. The containers make the 21 Day Fix diet fool proof. I don’t even need to think. I know proportions are correct. It works and is a complete life-long healthy way to eat. Having thyroid disease limits what I can eat. The 21 Day Fix meal plan is flexible, so choosing foods that work for me is easy.
The workouts are well-rounded and work every part of my body. I like the variety and ability to increase the intensity. Autumn is a genius. She is very motivating and obviously knows her physiology. I got to meet her once – she is delightful and caring.
I feel fantastic and have great energy for my very busy life. I am proud that someone my age with a thyroid disorder can lose 45 pounds and get truly fit.

Transformation Tuesday

Christopher Chaffee lost 48.5 lbs in 90 Days with P90X.

Before I started the P90X3 program I was kind of a lost soul. I was just living day to day without any regard about my health. My self esteem was in the dumps and I was always tired from work. My physical activity had pretty much amounted to going up and down the stairs in my house.
I reached a point where I said enough is enough. I remembered the toned athletic person I was when I was younger and yearned to be that person again. A friend of mine suggested that I start P90X3 and gave me encouragement along the way.
I think the hardest two challenges that I encountered during my journey was nutrition and motivation. Once I changed my eating habits and stuck with it I started to take notice of the foods that I ate and their nutritional value. In the end I won. Motivation was tough because the program is tough. Its not like the first workout is wimpy. It pushes you from the start. Ever day that I completed a workout I felt better and better. In the end I was eager to get out there and do another.
The 30 minute workouts were perfect. I am up early and work late. The 30 minutes workouts just fit my lifestyle. Shakeology is fantastic. I have it for breakfast every morning. I have noticed a change in my skin and hair since using it.
I have more confidence and self esteem. I am noticed and get compliments a lot more. My eating habits are probably the biggest change since I started. I pay attention more to what and how much I eat. I lost 53.5 lbs in 90 days. I shrank 10 inches in my waist and dropped four pant sizes. My energy levels are through the roof.

Goal Setting

Please tell me I am not the only one who wants to rip their hair out when sitting down to write their goals for the year.... Yes, it is January 22nd and I am just now writing mine out! Better late than never right?

One of the reasons why I procrastinated so long was because I didn't know where to start. I felt like there were so many things I would like to improve and accomplish this year that writing out my goals was such a daunting task. I could just keep them in my head right??
WRONG!

Writing out your goals is so important. Once you see your goals on paper they become more real and will have a powerful effect on your mind. "If you have a goal, write it down. If you do not write it down, you do not have a goal- you have a wish."-Steve Maraboli

Here is an easy way to help you figure out what goals to set....

Morning Life SAVERS

To make your morning really miraculous you need to start it off with your life SAVERS. After I do my first 5 morning steps (listed in my previous post) I do my life SAVERS and it has seriously changed the way my days go exponentially. I am happier and more productive. I have more purpose in my days and really try to make the most out of each day.

I don't do them in this particular order but here they are....

S- Silence. I take time to meditate, deep breathe, reflect and pray.
A- Affirmations. I read affirmations of who I want to be, what I want to accomplish and how I am going to accomplish it.
V- Visualization. I have created a vision board and take time to look at it and really visualize those things happening.
E- Exercise. This ranges anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes of exercise.
R- Reading. I read things that uplift me and help me be a better person. "We become the books we read."
S- Scribing. Or in other words journaling. When I journal I try to stick with a format- things I accomplished the day before, lessons I learned and new commitments.

I am so glad my team coach recommended the book The Miracle Morning. It really is changing my life for the better every single morning. Why in the world would someone wake up at 4:30 AM for any other reason than to go to work?
I never in a million years thought I would be a morning person. I thought that people who got up before the sun came up were seriously crazy! Well... I am now one of those crazy people.

Why???

Fist things first- it didn't happen over night. I have been working for a while now on getting up early. It first started off with waking up 15 minutes earlier, then 30, then 60. I love having time to myself before the kids wake up and do things for ME. Things that I love to do and that help me be happier and a better person. But I didn't ever really feel EXCITED to wake up until I read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod.

When was the last time you were actually excited to wake up in the morning?... Christmas morning 20 yrs ago? ... I go to bed now with that same excitement of what the next day will hold. Every day is a new day to get closer to your dreams and living the life you have always dreamed of.

Here is my morning schedule-

1: It starts the night before actually. When I got to bed my thoughts aren't "Ah man, I am only going to get 6 hrs of sleep tonight. I am going to be so tired in the morning." , they are "I am going to sleep good tonight. If the kids wake me up I will be able to go right back to sleep and feel fully rested in the morning." It's all about your mind set!

2: I put my alarm clock across the room and when I get up to turn it off, I flip the lights on. No snoozing!

3: I go straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth and splash water on my face.

4: I drink a glass of water as quickly as possible.

5: I put my workout clothes on and then start the life SAVERS.
More to come on the life SAVERS :)

Don't get me wrong, I don't wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed right when my alarm goes off but when I am done with these 5 steps I am ready to tackle the day!
And if you don't have The Miracle Morning yet... get it! It's on Audible too.

My first Aerobics Class!!

Last night I taught my very first aerobics class to some ladies in my church. I was so nervous! But it was a blast!! Here are a few things I gained from it....

1- Don't limit yourself!
Anyone can do something to exercise! The ladies who participated were of all different ages, body types and fitness levels but guess what...?! They ALL participated! I was so impressed with the older ladies! For some of them walking is difficult but they were out with me doing what they could and it was inspiring. You can always come up with excuses to not work out... but there is some form of exercise for everyone!

2- Exercise lifts your spirits!
At the end of the workout everyone had smiles on their faces! They all said how fun it was and how much they enjoyed it.  Exercise makes you feel good, gives you more energy and can lift your mood.
When you exercise your body releases endorphins that truly will leave you happier and more relaxed than before you worked out. And I saw it happen right before my eyes!

3- Strengthened our relationships!
I feel like working out together- making ourselves vulnerable in front of each other- really brought everyone in that room a little closer than before. It also helped some push a little harder and not quit. If you are wanting to get into exercise get a partner! Or join one of my challenge groups. When you are embarking on a new journey it is so much easier to do it with someone rather than alone. Having someone to encourage you and to be accountable to makes all the difference.

If you are interested in getting healthier and would like to join one of my challenge groups shoot me an email to amydalley21@gmail.com or message me on facebook :)

Oatmeal Wheat Pancakes

My 1st blog post! Woot woot!

Here is the recipe for my oatmeal wheat pancakes. I use about a 1/2 cup of regular milk instead of a whole cup of buttermilk. I got this recipe from Mel's Kitchen Cafe. If you are following a meal plan with the portion containers, I count 2 small pancakes as one yellow container. Hope you enjoy them!

Oatmeal Pancake Mix
YIELD: MAKES 10 CUPS OF DRY MIX. ONE CUP OF MIX WILL MAKE ABOUT 6-7 4-INCH PANCAKES.
Note (added 3/2011): I’ve updated this recipe several times to reflect that I generally use 100% whole wheat flour (five cups total, instead of using 2 cups of all-purpose flour). I prefer white wheat flour, although red wheat could be used and will lend an even heartier taste to the mix. Also, I made it the other day and before I added the oats to the mix, I threw them in my blender (yep, blender) and pulverized them to a powder. We loved the result! Loved it. Although the texture with the unblended oats is fantastic in it’s own right, blending the oats lends a smooth texture to the mix and finished pancakes. I’ll be doing it that way from now on!
INGREDIENTS
  • 3 1/2 cups rolled (quick) oats
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
DIRECTIONS
  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a mixer with a paddle (or by hand). If desired, grind the oats in a blender or food processor before adding to the other dry ingredients for a smoother mix. With mixer on slow speed (or gently by hand), drizzle the vegetable oil into the bowl slowly while the mixer is running. When all the oil has been added, stop the mixer and squeeze a clump of mix in your hand. If it stays together, it is just right. If it is still crumbly, add another tablespoon of oil at a time until the consistency is correct (I’ve never had to add additional oil). Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks at room temperature or indefinitely in the refrigerator or freezer.
  2. To make the pancakes: whisk together 1 cup of mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 to 1 cup buttermilk (depending on how thick you want your batter. Here is a guide formaking your own buttermilk). The mixture may seem thin at first but the oats will soak up the milk as it stands while the griddle preheats. Heat a griddle and drop the batter onto it. When the edges look dry and bubbles come to the surface and don’t break, turn the pancake over to finish cooking on the second side. As a sidenote, buttermilk can be frozen indefinitely for future batches of pancakes, so it’s worth keeping it around!
